Trump has dropped 11 places from last year in the brand-new Forbes magazine annual rankings of the wealthiest 400 Americans.
With a net worth of $3.1 billion, Trump is now the 259th-richest person in the 2018 Forbes 400. He was 248th in the 2017 Forbes 400 when his net worth fell from $3.7 billion when he was in 156th place in 2016 and down from $4.5 billion in 2015.
A drop in the number of visitors at some of his golf clubs and resorts and declines in real estate prices all contributed to the decline, Forbes said.
Meanwhile, another man with strong Hudson Valley ties, Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg remained at No. 4 in the Forbes 400, with a net worth of $61 billion, up $15.5 billion from a year ago. Zuckerberg is a White Plains native, Ardsley High School graduate and former Dobbs Ferry resident.
North Salem estate owner Michael Bloomberg, the former New York City mayor, was ranked No. 10 with a net worth of $51.8 billion, up from $46.8 billion in 2017, when he was ranked eighth was the second straight year.
Bedford's George Soros dropped from No. 20 in 2017 to No. 60 with a net worth of $8.3 billion, downed from $23 billion last year.
Amazon owner Jeff Bezos took over the No. 1 spot with a net worth of $160 billion, followed by Microsoft founder Bill Gates, No. 2 at $97 billion. In last year's rankings, Gates was No. 1 and Bezos second.
Gates now owns property in North Salem, purchased in 2018. His daughter, Jennifer, is an equestrian and is currently renovating a 124-acre horse property.
